Clinical treatment and NDIS funding

The NDIS does not replace clinical mental health treatment. Eligible disability-related therapy supports must meet funding criteria and be appropriate for the person’s plan. Ask your GP about clinical treatment pathways, and confirm any NDIS support before booking.

Read the NDIS therapy guidance and mental health and disability support factsheet. Funding distinction checked 3 October 2026.

Getting help now

If someone is in immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14, available 24 hours a day. For non-urgent treatment advice, contact your GP.

A website enquiry or referral to Unify is not an emergency response. See Healthdirect’s mental health helplines for more support options.

01

What is psychosocial recovery coaching?

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching (sometimes simply called “Recovery Coaching”) is an NDIS-funded support for participants with psychosocial disability, which can be associated with conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more.

Your Recovery Coach will work closely with you to:

  • Understand your individual experiences, goals, and strengths
  • Help you navigate and make the most of your NDIS plan
  • Coordinate and connect you to mental health and disability supports
  • Build your skills, confidence, and independence over time
  • Support you through tough periods (and link you with crisis services if needed), with a focus on sustainable growth

Specialised expertise

Our recovery coaches have training and experience in both disability support and mental health. They understand the complexities of psychosocial disabilities and can tailor their support to fit your needs, not force you into a mould.

Real connection, real results

We take the time to get to know you, your interests and your hopes, then work with you towards the life you want, step by step.

Navigators and advocates

We help you cut through the NDIS red tape, connect you with great providers, and advocate for the services you deserve.

Strength-Based approach

Our focus is on what you can do and want to achieve, not what’s "wrong". Your strengths, your choices, your journey.

Real stories

Support that shows.

Our plan review actually went well, for the first time ever.

We’d always struggled with NDIS reviews: not enough evidence, not the right words. But this time Unify helped us prep everything. Their reports were solid, clear, and the planner even said they were some of the best she'd seen.

Finally feel like someone's on my side.

The NDIS was such a maze for me. I didn’t even know I could ask for half the things my plan now covers. Unify didn’t just explain it. They helped me get what I actually needed. Real people, no judgement, just support.
