The NDIS offers a range of services that empower people with disabilities to improve their lives and live more independently. One of the services they provide is NDIS funding. However, if you are a participant or want to become one, knowing about NDIS funding categories is crucial. By understanding the NDIS funding categories, you will find it easier to plan and customise it to your needs.

What is NDIS Funding?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible Australians with disability to help them live a better, more independent life. With the help of funding specifically designed for people with disabilities, numerous benefits can be obtained, including assistance with therapy sessions, speech therapy, mobility devices, and other necessary tools. All these needs will usually be a big challenge for people with disabilities because the costs can be high, especially if they must be personalised specifically for them.

NDIS Funding Categories

NDIS funding is divided into three main support budgets:

  • Core Supports
  • Capacity Building Supports
  • Capital Supports

Some participants may also have Recurring Supports, depending on their circumstances.

Purpose

Core supports help with everyday activities and current disability-related needs. For example, this includes help with mobility, personal care such as bathing, and household tasks. Core funding is usually flexible across its support categories.
